When you have just given birth and maybe particularly when it is your first Breastfeeding does take time. All-in-all it may take up to one hour with the nursing and a little patting on the back afterwards.
When you get a little more experience and as your baby gets just a few weeks older it will be much faster and often reduce to about half an hour instead. And my own experience is that this development continues and soon it will take you about 15 minutes to nurse your sweet baby.
Of course there are exceptions. Should you be one that feels that you are breastfeeding all the time you should maybe go to doctor or a nurse and have a talk. They almost always have some good advice on nursing.
