Why is nursing slimming?

Is it a myth that breastfeeding is slimming? When I was breastfeeding, I heard “someone” say that “it’s slimming to breastfeed”. But is it really true?

According to the nurse I consulted, the myth is true! The nurse said that “… when your son have a good suck of your chest it is calories you lose.” And I’ve found another source that says upi loose 1,000 calories a day when you are breastfeeding!

But conversely, the health care book also writes that when you are breastfeeding, you become hungry too, and may eat more than you would otherwise, and perhaps you may eat the extra calories you have just lost in breastfeeding? And then you have come nowhere! So, while you are breastfeeding it is important that you do not overeat, eat sweet things and drink unhealthy amounts of juices, juices, etc. And that you take a lot of trips with that stroller!

Another myth that concerns weight and breastfeeding are this: “When you are breastfeeding, your body goes into hamster mode, and saves your body fat”. This means you do not actually lose weight while breastfeeding – but instead the body hold on to all the fat. Is that myth real? I have not been able to find a single expert opinion that supports this myth. I think unfortunately it’s a myth that has occurred because there may be a couple of mothers who ate too much sweet and went on too little trips with the stroller and therefore did not lose any weight despite the fact that they were breastfeeding as much as they could.

So, my advice to you who breastfeeds and who wants to return to your normal weight within a reasonable time is:

  • Nurse your child for as long as you can – you can lose 1,000 calories a day – and your child love your milk.
  • Eat no more than you usually do and do not drink too much liquid with calories.
  • Keep walking with that stroller – even if your baby has fallen asleep. Your body will enjoy the long walks and the kilos will rattle off.

While you are breastfeeding and still need to throw a few kilos, it’s important that you get out and go and meet with others too. It can sometimes be hard to overcome and here Milker can help you with our comfortable nursing clothes, our lovely nursing dresses and nursing t-shirts that will suit you – even if you still have too much fat on your stomach.
