Bamboo is a natural fibre with incredible qualities. It is one of the fastest growing plants on the planet, and a much more eco-friendly and sustainable option than traditional cotton, as it needs very little water and no fertilizers to grow. These facts need to be considered not only by the textile industry, but by us, the consumers, as well, as we hold the power to affect change by directing our shopping habits in the right direction, towards sustainable alternatives.
Milker uses bamboo for most of our nursing wear. The fibers are grown organically without fertilizer or any type of pesticides, using very little to no irrigation. We use bamboo fibers because they hold amazing qualities that we haven’t encountered anywhere else. The fiber is naturally anti-bacterial, and also helps prevent smell. Besides this, bamboo has incredible insulating properties, which help keep you warm, but will also cool you down and help transport moist away from your skin when you feel damp.
